Else, I guess you could be okay wearing earphones or using external speakers. This internal audio issue could possibly be fixed with some custom work. There is an issue with internal audio. And even so, there seems to be some issues there. This is a Linux OS tailored specifically for ChromeOS devices. I found a line about your ASUS Chromebook C423. I decline any responsibility here, this could be dangerous, but I am just trying to find a way to get things done without having to go through complex operations and tons of readings.
So, I had a crazy stupid dangerous idea: maybe you could verify your ISO copy from the live USB ? Or, worst, after a complete LinuxMint system installation !? Just remember to do this BEFORE copying any personal files or doing any money operations, or anything involving passwords. It is much more simple to do this from a Linux computer. But it looks complicated, trying to do this from a Windows computer. This, to make sure you are not getting corrupted software, or dangerous malware. P.S.: Sorry to insist, but you should not forget to verify your ISO. Creating a bootable USB stick is very easy when done from Windows, or Mac, or Linux. You could use another computer just for the time of creating this bootable USB stick. If you are unable to get Etcher to work on your Chromebook, then another possibility would be to use it from a Windows computer. P.S.: At least, I was able to find your ASUS Chromebook C423 in and it seems to be compatible, somehow.Ĭan you borrow a Windows or Mac Computer, just for a few minutes ? ISO, just to make sure you did not get any corrupted software, and then, before installing, come back here again to learn about what you should check on your live session before doing a complete installation. Then, quickly come back here to find a way to check your downloaded. TO SUM UP, I just want to know if you can get to create a bootable USB stick or DVD, as a first step. But hey, if you can get this Etcher working, as shown here, then that would be promising. Sorry, I don't know much about the Chromebooks, you may need to wait for better answers.
Now, how can you do this ? Are you able to download and run Etcher ? Or find it somewhere, somehow ? Your current Chrome OS is a kind of Linux distribution, so, I guess you should be able to run this Etcher. So, you absolutely need this bootable USB stick or DVD.
Because you must first run LinuxMint from an USB stick or DVD to test it and make sure everything works fine, and then you will need to install the system from there. What is a bootable media ? This bootable USB stick will make it possible to start -we call this "boot"- the LinuxMint system from there. Verify: Important, but how can you do this on a Chromebook ? (Let's keep this step aside for now.)Ĭreate the bootable media: Prefer doing this on an USB stick, if possible.
Any idea what would be the next step after I get the laptop into developer mode ? You certainly have to go through all the first steps in the Installation guide:
